Quest® Announces Record Customer Growth With Desktops as a Service (DaaS) Powered by the Desktone Virtual Desktop Platform

Global Service Provider Onboards 50+ Customers, Supporting Workforce Mobility with Cloud-Hosted Virtual Desktops

VMworld US 2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--Quest®, one of the leading technology service providers, today announced record growth in customer adoption of its Desktone Powered Desktops as a Service (DaaS) offering. In just six months since partnering with Desktone, Inc. to deliver cloud-hosted virtual desktops to enterprises, Quest has added thousands of seats across more than 50 new customers.

This strong growth demonstrates demand for IT solutions that support the evolution of the desktop management market. As personal devices become more common in the enterprise, IT professionals are tasked with finding a way to securely and affordably incorporate them into workflows. With DaaS, Quest is able to rapidly provision and deploy virtual desktops on-demand to any device, giving end users access to their complete Windows desktops on tablets, smartphones, MacBooks and PCs. DaaS removes the cost and complexity barriers associated with traditional on-premise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments.

“More and more clients are coming to us for help managing a multitude of devices in their organizations,” said Tim Burke, CEO, Quest. “We chose to leverage the Desktone platform to deliver DaaS as a simple, affordable way to give our clients always-on access to their desktops, regardless of the device. In the past months since then, we’ve seen customer interest soar as enterprises realize the value of DaaS for reducing TCO while enabling end user productivity.”

For thirty years, Quest has helped organizations from SMBs to Fortune 500 companies select, acquire and manage their technology needs. As a long-term partner of Cisco and NetApp, Quest provides cloud and managed services for storage, disaster recovery, backup, security, VoIP and networking, both on-premise and from its secure global Service Delivery Centers.

Customers range across all industry segments and include a wide variety of use cases, including enabling Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), remote workers, security and mobility. For example, the University of Akron uses DaaS to provide students and faculty with access to software and applications on their own endpoint devices, which are increasingly used on campus. All DaaS customers benefit from full-featured Windows 7 virtual desktops delivered alongside Quest’s personalized infrastructure support with additional capabilities in data management and business continuity.

“Quest’s success is a clear indication that the market for DaaS is taking off as companies look to the cloud to help with the shift toward mobility,” said Peter McKay, CEO, Desktone. “Desktone’s virtual desktop Platform is the industry’s only multi-tenant, cloud-based virtual desktop solution, enabling service providers like Quest to easily provision and deploy desktops to any end user device in just minutes at an unbeatable price.”

Quest will be showcasing our QuestFlex® DaaS offering at VMworld 2012 San Francisco, August 28-29, NetApp Demo Booth #334.
