Addition of Industry Veterans Expands Focus of Industrials Investment Banking

NEW YORK--()--Wells Fargo Securities, the capital markets and investment banking business of Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), today announced that Bill Brenizer and David Cheney have joined the company as managing directors in the Industrials Investment Banking Group. Brenizer will work primarily with Capital Goods clients, with a particular focus on larger, multi-industry companies. Cheney will focus on the Metals & Mining sector as well as Construction Materials & Services. Both new team members will be based in New York and will report to John Church, head of Industrials.

“Bill and David are outstanding additions to our team,” said Church. “Bill has a wealth of experience and deep relationships in the Capital Goods sector, which is a very important part of Wells Fargo Securities’ customer base. He brings to bear a long and successful history of advising companies and their Boards as they pursue strategic assignments. David’s experience and relationships are very complementary to our existing Metals & Mining practice, and will expand our coverage of construction materials, infrastructure and related service businesses. These hires reflect the steady progress we are making in the growth of our platform as well as our commitment to providing deep industry knowledge and trusted, value-added advice for our clients.”

Brenizer began his investment banking career in 1978 at Dillon Read (later acquired by UBS). For the next 25 years, he was responsible for advising many of the firm’s industrial sector clients. In 2004, he joined the early founders of Sagent Advisors to build a boutique advisory business and he has spent the last eight years covering his longstanding client base. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Cheney spent the first eight years of his investment banking career, beginning in 1998, at JPMorgan Securities where he focused on advising and raising capital for clients in the Metals & Mining sector. After JPMorgan Securities, Cheney held various investment banking positions, including vice president at Wachovia Capital Markets LLC, where he was part of the Global Industries group and focused on mining, metals, coal and construction materials. Most recently, Cheney was a managing director at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., where he was responsible for the bank’s Metals & Mining franchise. Cheney has a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from Lafayette College.
