Quarterback Eli Manning discusses throwing out the first pitch with his daughter Ava, age 14 months, and teaming up with Pampers to salute dads during the Father's Day game at Citi Field, New York, Sunday, June 17, 2012.

NEW YORK--()--Quarterback Eli Manning took to the diamond to test out his pitching arm Sunday in an effort to help Pampers ® pay homage to all the "Most Valuable Dads" out there on Father's Day.

Accompanied by his one-year-old daughter Ava, Manning took to the field – this time a baseball field – to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field before the New York Mets Father's Day Game. Together, father and daughter interacted with players during family-friendly, on-field activities. With Ava on his arm, Manning threw a strike to Mets Third Baseman, David Wright, who was honored to play catcher to his favorite football team’s all-star quarterback.

“I’m very much a family man and I value my role of being a dad,” Manning said. “By throwing out the first pitch at the Mets game, alongside Pampers and my daughter, I was not only able to honor my own family, but it gave me the chance to salute to all the hard working parents out there. It’s a priceless feeling.”

“Being a parent is the most important job out there," added John Brase, Marketing Director for Procter & Gamble Baby Care. “And there’s no better way to celebrate all the ‘Most Valuable Dads (MVD)’ out there than by teaming with a two-time MVP and MVD himself, Eli Manning!”

Because Manning knows firsthand the importance of having the best gear for peak athletic performance, it's only natural that he would want to same for his little one. "We’ve been a Pampers family from the start,” added Manning. “Ava was in Pampers Swaddlers from day one, and now that she’s discovering and conquering her world through play, Pampers Cruisers are perfect for her!"

Pampers is continuing the celebration of dads beyond Father's Day. Beginning June 20th, families can log on to the Pampers Facebook page and visit the “Most Valuable Dad” tab for a chance to win exciting prizes for dads and their little sluggers.
