FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--()--Holy Cross Hospital announced a generous $4 million gift from the Guerrieri Family Foundation to name the Patricia R. Guerrieri Pavilion at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex.
“With this gift, we will honor Patricia's legacy by serving the women of our community with compassion, medical excellence and highly personalized care.”
The pavilion will complete Phase III of the Women’s Center and will offer community education rooms for groups varying in size from 10 to 150 people; a café and teaching kitchen; medical spa; lifestyle counseling rooms; health education lobby; volunteer office; and physician suites. Completion is expected in fall 2012.
"We are so grateful for the continued support of the Guerrieri family," said Patrick A. Taylor, M.D., President and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital. "With this gift, we will honor Patricia's legacy by serving the women of our community with compassion, medical excellence and highly personalized care.”
Prior to her passing in 2010, Patricia Guerrieri was a generous contributor to several organizations in Maryland and Florida through her family foundation. In 2001, The Guerrieri Family Foundation, headed by her husband, M. Alan Guerrieri, made a substantial gift to Holy Cross Hospital and, in recognition, the hospital's soaring two-story main entrance featuring Holy Cross Hospital and Sisters of Mercy History Wall was named The Guerrieri Family Foundation Lobby.
Holy Cross Hospital opened Phase I of the 55,000 square-foot Women's Center in September 2010 with the Jan Moran Reception Suite and the Jeane M. Dorini Women’s Imaging and Diagnostic Suite. Phase II opened in May and includes the Marti Huizenga Meditation Chapel and Healing Garden, which is available to patients for quiet reflection, meditation and prayer.
The $15 million Women's Center is funded entirely through philanthropy. The $4 million gift from the Guerrieri Family Foundation brings the total funds raised for the Women's Center to nearly $14 million, including $1 million from 200 women in the community who each pledged $5,000 as lifetime, founding members of the Girlfriend’s Club in support of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.
