Hitachi Data Systems Named Among the Top Companies in Virtualization According to CRN

HDS Recognized in CRN’s 2012 Virtualization 100 List; Award is the Latest in Series of Hitachi TrueNorth™ Partner Program Accolades

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced it has been recognized as part of CRN’s 2012 Virtualization 100 list. The annual feature highlights the top 100 companies in virtualization and is published by UBM’s channel-focused news organization that helps solution providers identify and evaluate virtualization products and programs. The inclusion of HDS in the Virtualization 100 marks the third time in 2012 that CRN has recognized HDS leadership in the channel.

Earlier this year, CRN bestowed HDS with its highest rating as a 5 Star 2012 Partner Program Guide winner and honored three HDS executives as 2012 Channel Chiefs: Bruce Chumley, vice president, Worldwide Channel Sales; Michael Rouser, vice president, Americas Channels; and Mike Walkey, senior vice president, Global Partners and Alliances. CRN has also named Tonia Gonsalves, vice president, Global Partner Enablement, as one of the Most Powerful Women in the Channel for the past four consecutive years. CRN lists are considered the de facto resource solutions that providers use to make strategic technology decisions and support their business.

“These honors reaffirm the commitment of HDS to helping organizations realize the full potential of virtualization technology,” said Mike Walkey, senior vice president, Global Partners and Alliances, HDS. “Through our acclaimed partner programs, HDS offers organizations a framework for building expertise in IT solutions and helps partners create new revenue opportunities while meeting the growing IT needs of their customers.”

Companies on the 2012 Virtualization 100 list were selected by CRN editors for innovative and forward-thinking approaches to selling products and services through the IT Channel. HDS, along with the other companies listed, was also selected for its ability to help VARs transform themselves into true service providers that help organizations take advantage of the ease, flexibility, scalability, elasticity and cost savings of virtualization. The 2012 Virtualization list will be featured on CRN.com and in the May 2012 issue of CRN.

For its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011 (ended March 31, 2012) Hitachi Data Systems enterprise revenues grew in the high thirties, year over year. This underscores that Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) continues to be the dominant enterprise platform in virtualized environments. The system is the latest innovation in the HDS heritage of virtualizing heterogeneous storage systems. Since 2004, when HDS introduced its first virtualization controller, the company has shipped more than 21,000 units worldwide. CRN’s latest recognition showcases the long-standing leadership of HDS in driving the benefits of virtualization for global IT organizations. Additionally, through virtualization and capacity efficiency capabilities, HDS helps partners and their customers increase utilization rates within their existing IT environments without having to buy new capacity or rip out and replace legacy solutions. These capacity efficiency capabilities have been especially helpful to organizations looking to “do more with less” in these challenging economic times.
