HAZELWOOD, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Emerald Automotive (Emerald), the low-emissions, extended-range electric commercial van company, announced today the appointment of Jim McKelvey to its board of directors.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Jim join our Board,” said Emerald CEO Andy Tempest. “He brings an incredible amount of experience and talent for building fast-growing companies with disruptive technologies that define and dominate new markets. We look forward to applying Jim’s talents as we head toward Emerald’s initial production of the t-001.”
Emerald Automotive will bring to market an all-new lightweight, extended-range electric delivery vehicle, the t-001, which can achieve more than 100 miles per gallon and has a range of 475 miles per fueling. McKelvey will serve as a non-executive board member, joining the veteran Emerald Automotive management team and its deep experience in bringing low-volume vehicles to market.
McKelvey, a St. Louis native and Washington University graduate, is a serial entrepreneur who has founded several thriving businesses, including Square Inc., Mira Digital Publishing (online professional and self-publishing services) and Third Degree Glass Factory (community-driven glass production and education).
“I’m thrilled to be part of a manufacturing project that will bring true innovation to transportation. Andy and his team at Emerald are a great addition to the state, and their van is a great addition to the world,” McKelvey said. “Not only will the t-001 vastly reduce emissions and result in substantial cost savings for customers, the vehicles will maintain conventional payload and range while reducing operational cost. Emerald’s management has recognized a clear, market-driven opportunity and designed the perfect solution. I am proud to become a part of Emerald team and to help bring this needed product to an eager customer base.”
