Buchanan and Novaczyk Elected as Directors to ALFA Board

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) today announced that Tim Buchanan, founder and CEO of Legend Senior Living, based in Wichita, Kan., and Todd Novaczyk, founder, president and CEO of New Perspective Senior Living, based in Eden Prairie, Minn., were elected to the ALFA Board of Directors.

“Both Tim and Todd are unbending champions for the resident centered philosophy of senior living,” said Richard P. Grimes, president and CEO of ALFA. “We look forward to their added perspective as we continue to shape ALFA and advance its mission to create the future of senior living.”

Legend Senior Living operates 18 senior living communities in three states. New Perspective Senior Living operates 11 senior living communities in four states.

Directors rotating off the ALFA Board are former chairs Steven Vick, president and CEO of Signature Senior Living and Tiffany Tomasso, partner of Kensington Senior Living, as well as director Michel Augsburger, president and CEO of Chancellor Health Care.

“Steven, Tiffany and Michel made exceptional contributions to ALFA during a time of change and growth for the organization,” added Grimes. “Among many other roles in ALFA, Steven and Tiffany are past ALFA chairmen and Michel served as ALFA’s long-time chair of the ALFA Public Policy Committee. All three brought an entrepreneurial spirit, innovative ideas and deep knowledge about senior living to the table, which as a result have positioned ALFA for success for years to come. I have no doubt that each will continue to serve as some of ALFA’s biggest champions.”

In addition, Skip Comsia, owner of SRC Retirement, is transitioning the treasurer role to Bruce Mackey, president and CEO of Five Star Senior Living. As treasurer, Mackey will join the ALFA Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, which includes Mark Ohlendorf, ALFA chairman and co-president and CFO of Brookdale Senior Living; Loren Shook, ALFA vice chairman and president and CEO of Silverado Senior Living; Brenda Bacon, ALFA vice chairman and president and CEO of Brandywine Senior Living; Pat Mulloy, ALFA secretary and president and CEO of Elmcroft Senior Living; and Granger Cobb, ALFA Public Policy Committee chairman and president and CEO of Emeritus Senior Living.
