CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For major-metro regions in Texas, including Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso, BidClerk Construction Index reports an 11.4% increase in private construction projects and a 13.2% increase in public construction projects, for a 12.6% increase overall.
The BidClerk Construction Index noted dramatic increases in activity in certain markets: San Antonio saw a 65% increase in private construction, and Houston saw a 27.3% increase in that same category. However, the BidClerk Construction Index also noted a year-on-year 48% contraction in private construction in El Paso and an 8.9% contraction in Austin. Counties surveyed by BidClerk included Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Fort Bend, Harris, Bexar, Comal, Hays, Travis, Williamson, and El Paso.
Across all the Texas major-metro regions, there was an increase of 70.3% in public projects valued at over $1 million over the same period a year ago. For private projects valued at over $1 million, there was a year-on-year increase of 41.2%, with Houston experiencing the largest increase, a rise of 104.5%.
