SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--We at Doctor’s Best are saddened to announce the passing of Renate Halvorsrude on March 22nd, 2012 due to complications from colorectal cancer. Renate served as the Chief Operations Officer of Doctor’s Best for over 20 years. She worked tirelessly and successfully with her husband and business partner, Ken Halvorsrude, to help make Doctor’s Best a leading manufacturer of nutritional supplements. Renate’s caring spirit, drive for success and desire to help individuals shaped the company and inspired those around her. Beloved by industry professionals and the Doctor’s Best staff, Renate will be deeply missed.
Renate, who was just 57 at the time of her death, was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer in March of 2010. Despite her acknowledgement of the effectiveness of the colonoscopy as a screening tool for early diagnosis of colon cancer, Renate postponed her first screening until age 55, just two years prior to her death. Understanding that earlier screening may have resulted in a potentially lifesaving diagnosis, Renate asked that the message of “screening beginning at age 50” be communicated to as many individuals as possible going forward! Renate worked closely for many years helping customers with questions related to nutrition and health. She wanted to remind individuals to be vigilant in all areas of nutrition to properly support health, including early detection screenings.
