Carrington Colleges Group Announces Multi-Campus Pet First Aid Event

Colleges to offer complimentary veterinary services at “Paw it Forward”

PHOENIX--()--Carrington College® and Carrington College® California, part of Carrington Colleges Group, will host a “Paw it Forward” event at select campuses on April 24 and 27 from noon until 5 p.m. Complimentary veterinary services will be offered as well as pet first aid instruction to help promote the importance of animal first aid knowledge. An instructor and students studying in the veterinary field will be on-hand to share tips about how to manage pet first aid concerns including wrapping wounds, taking temperature, and instructing on how to proactively maintain a pet’s health.

“With April being Pet First Aid Month, we feel this is a wonderful opportunity to educate the community on how to best prepare for the unexpected pet emergency,” said Rob Paul, president of Carrington Colleges Group. “Most people are prepared for family emergencies but not for their pet, so we will teach owners how to properly handle an emergency such as an allergic reaction or eye injury so their pets may live a long and happy life.”

The “Paw it Forward” event is free and open to the public. Faculty and students will be on-hand to show pet owners the importance and implementation of first aid techniques, and provide complimentary veterinary services that include ear cleaning and nail trimmings.

“At Carrington Colleges Group we work to integrate ourselves into the community through events that are mutually beneficial to students and area residents,” Paul said. “This event provides pet owners the opportunity to learn potentially lifesaving techniques and gives our students the opportunity to interact with the public and hone their skills in the veterinary profession they are looking to specialize in.”

This is the second “Paw it Forward” event the group is hosting. The first was in February at the Carrington College California Pomona campus, which was declared a huge success. Students performed routine vet check-ups on more than 30 dogs and a cat. “This was such a great event and we were extremely impressed with how the staff and students made our rescue dogs feel so comfortable. The special care truly brought a sparkle back to their eyes,” said Lance Hunter of Baldwin Park Animal Shelter.
