Reser’s and Kansas City Barbeque Society Searching for America’s Best Potato Salad

Challenge to Feature 12 Barbeque Competitions

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--The two best potato salads are the one you make at home, and Reser’s American Classics Potato Salads found in thousands of grocers worldwide. In 2012, Reser’s is challenging the Kansas City Barbeque Society and cooks across the country to help them find America’s best potato salad.

Reser’s “America’s Best Potato Salad Challenge” is year-long search aimed at finding the best potato salad in the country. To aid in their quest, Reser’s is partnering with the Kansas City Barbeque Society and bringing their challenge to 12 KCBS sanctioned events as an additional category competition.

“Barbeque and potato salad are the perfect backyard combination, just like the Kansas City Barbeque Society and Reser’s Fine Foods,” said Carolyn Wells, executive director and co-founder of KCBS. “KCBS is known for having the world’s best competition cooks and chefs that prepare exceptional and creative culinary masterpieces.”

Reser’s will be awarding prize money to the top five finishers in the potato salad category at each of the 12 barbecue competitions. The “America’s Best Potato Salad Challenge” begins its nationwide search with the ACM BBQ Throwdown in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

In addition to searching among the best competition cooks in America, Reser’s will be searching the best kitchens in America. The “America’s Best Potato Salad Challenge” is also inviting the best kitchen creators and cooks in America to participate in an online recipe contest that will launch on May 1, 2012 at www.resers.com.

“There are so many hidden recipe gems out there just waiting to be discovered,” said Barbara Jordan, head chef at Reser’s. “Families have potato salad recipes they’ve passed down from generation to generation. There are people in America’s kitchens today dreaming up the next great food invention. It’s truly exciting to think of all the possibilities!”

The winner of Reser’s “America’s Best Potato Salad Challenge” will be chosen from among the top finishers at the KCBS events and the top entries in the online recipe competition. The grand prize for the winner is $10,000 and ultimate bragging rights.

Registration and official rules for participation in Reser’s “America’s Best Potato Salad Challenge” can be found at kcbs.us/potatosalad.
