Dr. David G. Stork Elected International Society for Optics and Photonics Fellow

Distinguished Rambus research scientist acknowledged for work in pattern recognition, computer vision, joint design of optics and image processing

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS), one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies, announced today that Dr. David G. Stork has been named a 2012 Fellow of SPIE – the International Society for Optics and Photonics.

SPIE Fellows are members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement, for their service to the general optics community, and to SPIE in general. Dr. Stork is a renowned expert in optics and the development of algorithms that enable novel sensing, imaging and image analysis techniques. He has published eight books or proceeding volumes on topics such as optics and pattern recognition. In 2011, Dr. Stork joined Rambus as part of Rambus Labs to lead the company’s long-term research in new classes of imaging systems.

Dr. Stork will be recognized and receive a certificate at the Electronics Imaging conference to be held on January 22 – 26 in Burlingame, California. At the conference, Dr. Stork will teach a short course on new methods in computational imaging. In addition, Dr. Stork and colleagues will present a paper on computer vision.
