Polyvore Partners with COVERGIRL to Launch Polyvore Live

Full-Scale Runway Show Will Feature the Collections of Four FIT Alumni During New York Fashion Week in February and will be Live-Streamed on Polyvore.com

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Polyvore, the largest fashion community on the web, is partnering with COVERGIRL to launch Polyvore Live –the first live fashion show for emerging designers to be hosted by an online community. Polyvore Live will be held on Monday, February 13 at La.Venue. The runway show, taking place during New York Fashion Week, will showcase the collections of four designers who graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT): Lauren Bagliore, Vengsarkar “Ven” Budhu, Sergio Guadarrama, and Dana-Maxx Pomerantz.

The Polyvore Live runway show also will stream live on Polyvore.com, offering virtual access to more than 13 million people across the globe. In addition, the collections will be posted on Polyvore, with links to the designers’ websites and bios, providing a further connection to Polyvore’s extensive community and expanding the designers’ name recognition and familiarization with their styles. Makeup artist, Beau Nelson, and styling duo Anda and Masha will be creating the looks for the show.

The models walking the catwalk at the live show will be prominent bloggers wearing the Spring 2012 collections of the four FIT alumni. The final list of blogger models will be revealed on Polyvore.com one week before the show.

Polyvore and FIT’s Alumni Affairs selected the four FIT alumni designers.

  • Lauren Bagliore received a BS in Fashion Merchandising Management in 2005, after which she worked at Vivienne Westwood, Zac Posen, Libertine, Tod’s, and Paul Hardy. Bagliore recently established her own clothing line, Lauren Bagliore Design House.
  • Vengsarkar “Ven” Budhu received a BFA in Fashion Design in 2006. Specializing in eveningwear, he was selected by Reem Acra as the critic award winner for special occasion wear in FIT’s annual BFA Fashion Show. Budhu has started his own eveningwear label, GAVASKAR.
  • Sergio Guadarrama received a BFA in Fashion Design in 2008. While still a student, he launched his label, Celestino. In 2008, he won “The Best in Class – Execution” in the FIT Supima Design Competition. In 2010, he served as a critic for the annual FIT BFA Fashion Show, along with a group of designers that included Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera.
  • Dana-Maxx Pomerantz received a BFA in Fashion Design in 2005. After working for Betsy Johnson and Marc Jacobs, she established her eponymous clothing line, Dana-Maxx. Pomerantz has been praised in the Tobe Report as “one to watch.”

From January 16 through January 27, the Polyvore community will have the opportunity to preview the four collections and participate in a challenge to create “sets,” or digital collages, – one for each designer – with pieces from each featured designer’s collection, along with any item from COVERGIRL. Each of the four designers will select their favorite Polyvore set, and the four winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to watch the runway show from premier seats in the front row.

“Polyvore is the stepping stone for many fashion designers, and I’m thrilled we’re able to help these four amazing designers launch their careers,” said Jess Lee, Polyvore Co-Founder and Head of Product. “We love empowering fashionistas worldwide. and we hope this is the first of many more initiatives to come in the future.”
