Industry Alliance Showcases First Deployed Remote User Interface Products at CES 2012

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The RVU Alliance is celebrating a successful year with a series of demonstrations at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The RVU Remote User Interface (RUI) technology is the first client/server RUI deployed by a major commercial broadcaster with DIRECTV releasing its HR34 RVU server in late 2011, and Samsung introducing RVU support via a software download in December 2011 for their LED D6000, LED D6400 and LED D6420 TVs.

Broadcom, DIRECTV, Entropic, JetHead Development, Pace and Samsung will be among the numerous Alliance members demonstrating products and solutions at CES.

The Samsung LED 6000 series models and the Pace C30 client for DIRECTV were certified using a full suite of development tools, test procedures and a fully independent certification process run by the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory. The RVU Alliance has also continued to attract new members to the organization, with French operator Bouygues Telecom and several leading silicon manufacturers in the WiFi space joining the expanding roster.

The publicly available RVU standard allows a single server in the home to interface to multiple clients simultaneously, providing every TV in a household the same consistent User Interface and experience. RVU servers provide a single, easily upgradable central point in the home that enables service providers to present their UI on compatible CE devices with no additional hardware required, providing DVR features directly on that CE device.
