NEW YORK--()--UBS Wealth Management Americas (WMA) today announced the adoption of a mobile technology strategy that will transform the way its more than 6,000 financial advisors (FAs) engage with their clients. The strategy will equip WMA’s field force with mobile tools and applications that respond to shifting FA work needs to be more interactive and agile.
“From the beginning, we are building a suite of solutions that is designed by and for FAs, and contributes meaningfully to our goal of building the workplace of the future”
The milestone reached today builds on WMA’s momentum in the transformation of its business. Undertaken by the firm's leadership team over the past two years, that transformation focuses on the firm’s commitment to a business model that is financial advisor-centric and client-focused.
The announcement of the WMA mobile strategy was accompanied by the launch of a national pilot of UBS FA Mobile, an application for the iPad that will allow the firm’s financial advisors to work more collaboratively with clients by accessing desktop and proprietary tools while away from their offices. Specifically, the secure ‘app’ extends WMA FAs’ mobile access to proprietary research and client materials, including client account and contact data, market data, analyst research, full email capabilities and more.
“As our FAs engage with clients in an environment that compels 24/7 connectivity, we are thrilled to launch an innovative platform that gets us in front of this market change and gives us an edge,” said Anita Sands, Chief Operating Officer for UBS Wealth Management Americas.
Beginning December 1, 2011, UBS WMA will enter a three-month pilot period during which the firm will introduce the application to a focus group of advisors across the United States. This pilot phase follows a development process led by UBS’s Technology group that included engaging with WMA’s FAs to provide feedback and input on the tool’s design, as well as technical development assistance, counsel and mobility software from Silicon Valley-based Framehawk, Inc.
“From the beginning, we are building a suite of solutions that is designed by and for FAs, and contributes meaningfully to our goal of building the workplace of the future,” Ms. Sands continued. “We are working closely with our advisors and Framehawk to ensure each mobile solution meets our FAs' expectations in terms of usability and functionality and provides a significant uplift in productivity."
UBS WMA plans to follow the three-month pilot period of UBS FA Mobile with a national launch of the platform to FAs beginning March 2012. While the app is designed for the iPad, the platform can be extended to other mobile platforms based on FA demand.
