MINNEAPOLIS--()--Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has announced 10 new educational offerings. They include two Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) specializations in Marketing and Finance, and three Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) specializations in Nursing Leadership and Administration, Diabetes Nursing, and Gerontology Nursing. The online university also added a School Leadership emphasis to its MS in Education, Leadership in Educational Administration specialization, and School Leadership and District Leadership emphases to both its PhD in Education, Leadership in Educational Administration specialization and its EdS, Leadership in Educational Administration specialization. As of Sept. 30, 2011, more than 35,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), with nearly 80 percent enrolled in Capella’s doctoral degree programs and master’s degree programs.

DBA specializations feature a global perspective
Capella's new online DBA specializations in Marketing and Finance focus on developing the skills and knowledge needed to lead global organizations, provide strategic advice, conduct applied research, and educate the next generation of marketing or finance professionals. The comprehensive core curriculum integrates advanced theory and practice in research, business strategy, leadership, and ethics, along with intensive coursework that emphasizes the global nature of business. Capella's new DBA specialization in Marketing covers such topics as the role of media and technological integration in marketing strategy and execution, and the many ways that culture influences both consumer and business-to-business marketing. Capella's DBA specialization in Finance includes intensive coursework that explores current and emerging global finance theory, financial institutions, financial reporting, and investment and portfolio management. Both specializations offer an optional international experience that provides firsthand experience of the role culture plays in global business operations.

MSN specializations' five field experiences put courseroom learning into action
Capella's new MSN specializations include online coursework covering advanced theories and evidence-based practices focused on the areas of nursing leadership and administration, diabetes nursing, and gerontology nursing, depending on which specialization is chosen. The MSN program also includes five field experiences, each connected to a specific course within the chosen specialization, offering students opportunities to put their courseroom learning into action. In addition, Capella's multidisciplinary approach to its MSN program not only prepares RNs to be leaders within their own organizations, it provides them with the knowledge and skills to be key contributors in the larger public service environment by learning to effectively collaborate with other leaders in health care administration, public administration, and public safety.

Capella updates content, adds emphases to Leadership in Educational Administration specializations
Capella has updated its Leadership in Educational Administration specializations within its PhD in Education, EdS, and MS in Education programs, adding a School Leadership emphasis in its MS in Education specialization, and a choice of School Leadership or District Leadership emphases in its PhD in Education and EdS specializations. The new emphases are designed to provide clearer academic pathways for students who wish to pursue licensure as a principal (school leadership) or superintendent (district leadership). Content has been added and updated to provide additional emphasis on the knowledge and skills needed to be either a principal or superintendent.

Capella's MS, EdS, and PhD specializations in Leadership in Educational Administration are among the programs that make up Capella’s Professional Education Unit, which has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). They are also nationally recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituents Council (ELCC).
