BOSTON--()--OpenStack Conference – Nebula, developer of a unique hardware appliance that enables any business to easily, securely and inexpensively deploy large OpenStack private cloud computing infrastructures, today announced it has appointed Jose Guardado as director of recruiting to expand Nebula’s team in Palo Alto, Calif. and Seattle, Wash. The company plans to grow to fifty engineers, scientists and executives in the next year.
“We offer employees a unique opportunity to innovate, transform infrastructure technology and better the world.”
Launched in July 2011, Nebula was seeded by Google’s first investors Andy Bechtolsheim, David Cheriton and Ram Shriram, and has secured venture financing from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Highland Capital Partners.
“We’re expanding our operations rapidly,” said Devin Carlen, co-founder and VP of Engineering at Nebula. “We’re looking for engineers who are inspired by the prospect of inventing the next generation of computing.”
Hailing from some of the world’s most elite organizations and technology companies, the Nebula team has firsthand experience with some of the world’s largest and most secure computing infrastructures. “I joined Nebula to work alongside the exceptional team that Nebula’s founders have attracted from Google, NASA, Amazon and Disney,” said Guardado. “We offer employees a unique opportunity to innovate, transform infrastructure technology and better the world.”
Guardado joins Nebula from Google, where he was a senior technical recruiter supporting engineering for Google Platforms and Infrastructure. Among other accomplishments, he spearheaded a hiring initiative that doubled the size of Google’s data center automation software group in six months.
Nebula’s notable recent hires include Tres Henry, Principal Engineer, who led the development, deployment and maintenance of the Amazon Web Services Management Console; Daniel Ford, Principal Storage Architect, who led R&D projects to define next-generation Google storage systems; and Matt Gambardella, who designed search engine servers and infrastructure for Microsoft.
"Just about everyone at Nebula is an engineer or computer scientist, and extremely passionate about changing the fundamentals of big data infrastructure,” said Henry. “Listening to our customers talk about how they will be using Nebula to enable game-changing advances in their business is incredibly inspiring.
