DreamWorks Studios’ Marvin Levy To Be Inducted into Variety’s Motion Picture Marketing Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES--()--Variety is pleased to announce that it will be inducting veteran film marketer Marvin Levy into its Motion Picture Marketing Hall of Fame on Oct. 4 at the Universal Hilton in Studio City.

Levy, a marketing executive at DreamWorks Studios, will be Variety’s first inductee into its Motion Picture Marketing Hall of Fame, which is being launched at its 2011 Film Marketing Summit, running Oct. 4-5 at the Universal Hilton.

Among Levy’s current projects are his involvement in the upcoming December theatrical releases War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin both directed by Steven Spielberg. He has worked closely with Spielberg in various capacities since “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” He was also involved in the summer hit The Help and the Oct. 7 release Real Steel.

He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for a total of 20 years and is the Chairman of its Public Relations Branch Committee.

Over his extensive career in film, previously with MGM and Columbia Pictures among other companies, Levy has been part of the marketing for many of our most enduring hits, such as Kramer vs. Kramer, the Back to the Future trilogy, the Indiana Jones films, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, American Beauty and Saving Private Ryan.

Variety’s Film Marketing Summit, co-produced by Variety and Stradella Road, will be headlined by movie marketing chiefs and their technology partners exploring how to best target today’s audiences for box office success.
