PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Reppler today announced the latest version of its social media monitoring service that helps users manage their online image across social networks. In addition to Facebook, Reppler will now feature support for social network Twitter and LinkedIn, the world’s largest online professional network. Reppler has also added a new feature called the “Reppler Image Score” that captures the professionalism and consistency of one’s online image across different social networks. The latest version of Reppler is free and is available at www.reppler.com.
“Getting a job in today’s economic climate is difficult, which means that job seekers need to make sure they are doing everything they can to present themselves in the best light possible”
In today’s increasing competitive job market, employers are looking beyond the resume to determine who to hire. Recently, Reppler conducted a survey of people that are involved in the hiring process at their respective firms found that over 90% have used a social networking site(s) to screen prospective employees. For job seekers, this statistic highlights the importance of maintaining a professional and consistent online image.
In addition to being the only social media monitoring service that helps users manage their online image across various social networks, Reppler is introducing a new and unique feature called the Reppler Image Score that will provide users with a combined measurement of their image across social networks they belong to. This score will include various factors such as the tone of their content, the appropriateness of their content, and the consistency of their profile information across social networks. Currently, there is no similar metric that captures the professionalism and consistency of one’s online image across different social networks.
“Getting a job in today’s economic climate is difficult, which means that job seekers need to make sure they are doing everything they can to present themselves in the best light possible,” said Vlad Gorelik, Founder of Reppler. “With hiring managers relying heavily on social networks to screen potential candidates, it is more important than ever for job seekers to maintain a clean and professional online image.”
Reppler Hiring Survey
In September 2011, Reppler commissioned a survey of several hundred people who are involved in the hiring process at their respective companies and found that over 91% of them used social networking sites to screen prospective candidates. In addition, the survey also found that they examined both Facebook and Twitter more than LinkedIn, hoping to get a more complete view of the candidate beyond the traditional resume. Finally, the survey found that social network screening occurs in the very early process of vetting candidates, which means job seekers who may have a questionable online image, may not even get past the initial application stage.
What Reppler Does
Reppler helps users manage their online image across different social networks by:
- Showing users how they are perceived across social networks: Reppler analyzes users' content to provide them unique insights into things like the tone of the language used by them and their connections and the words they use most often.
- Telling users the makeup of their social network connections: Reppler analyzes the connections in the different social networks users participate in to make them aware of the various segments of people they are interacting with.
- Identifying any potential issues and risks: Reppler flags any content that might be considered inappropriate, as well as any privacy and security risk a user might have. Reppler also compares the information in a user's profiles across different social networks to find similarities and differences since recruiters often look for discrepancies in the education and work histories of prospective employees.
- Calculating an overall image score: Reppler calculates what is called the Reppler Image Score, a measure that takes into account a variety of elements that can affect one's online image – the completeness of information in one's profiles, the consistency of one's information across different social networks, the tone of one's content, the appropriateness of one's content, the number of people a user is connected to, etc.
- Tracking changes that could affect one's online image: Reppler automatically sends users a weekly email that summarizes activity across their social networks that could affect their online image. This keeps users abreast of any issues and gives them the opportunity to take action before it is too late.
