NEWARK, Calif.--()--NewarkCERT (Community Emergency Response Team) launched their new fundraising campaign this weekend at the Newark Days Festival. In partnership with PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Systems, NewarkCERT will receive from $250-$1000 for every roof or solar system purchased by Newark citizens depending on the purchase size. “We’ve searched for a way to give back to the community in a meaningful way that makes good business sense and I think we have a win-win situation with this program”, says Jim Petersen, CEO and founder of PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Systems.
“Entering into a fundraising partnership with PetersenDean Roofing and Solar could be the best thing that ever happened for our programs funding”
The PetersenDean fundraising program was created to help non-profit organizations generate funds through their sales and channels, therefore; expanding the non-profit’s ability to reach the general public. Non-profits can cultivate their contacts when promoting their fundraising campaign and PetersenDean provides support by conducting free solar seminars, informing local citizens of the non-profit and creating collateral for the non-profit to distribute in advertising.
The Alameda County of Newark Fire Department offers a Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program free for all community volunteers. The training is designed to provide volunteers basic skills in firefighting, search and rescue, disaster medicine, and emergency preparedness. With this training, citizens of Newark may become self-sufficient for the first 72 hours following a major disaster.
With the downturn in the economy, programs like the CERT have experienced funding reductions or, in CERTS case, all funding. According to David Libby, CERT treasurer, “Entering into a fundraising partnership with PetersenDean Roofing and Solar could be the best thing that ever happened for our programs funding”. Newark homeowners can help raise funds for NewarkCERT by contacting them at (510) 221-6220 or PetersenDean at (800) 564-0362 to inquire about a new roof or solar system. Homeowners need to be sure to mention the NewarkCERT program so funds can be donated to CERT on their behalf.
