FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Gladney Center for Adoption is celebrating our 125th Anniversary with a family kick-off event on Sunday, September 18th, 3:00-5:00 pm at the Gladney Center’s Fort Worth campus at 6300 John Ryan Dr. The theme “Where Hope is Born” signifies Gladney’s hope for the future, hope for the children we serve and hope fulfilled by the love of a forever family.
Mayor Betsy Price will be among Gladney’s honored guests. She will speak about her hope for Fort Worth’s bright future. In addition, this special event will boast delicious food, games, bouncy houses and lots more. Also on display will be the nation’s only adoption museum housed right here on Gladney’s campus.
The Gladney Center is proud to be a part of Fort Worth’s rich history. Since our inception in 1887, we have placed almost 30,000 children and assisted over 37,000 birthparents and have been in continuous operation since that time. Mrs. Edna Gladney was a powerful force behind the evolution of adoption, committed to serving children and families. She was instrumental in removing the word “illegitimate” from birth certificates and she lobbied successfully to provide inheritance rights for adopted children.
Her passion for serving the underserved lives on today in Gladney’s leadership, values and integrity. Frank Garrott, President of the Gladney Center says, “Mrs. Gladney laid the foundation for what Gladney is today. She inspired hope for the hopeless and strength for those most vulnerable. Gladney is proud to be 125 years strong.”
The Gladney Center for Adoption will continue celebrating our 125th Anniversary throughout the year with celebrations all across the world, culminating with a main event in April that brings all our families together.
