COLUMBIA, S.C.--()--Snell Pro, an internet solutions company, today announced that Columbia College has selected Snell Pro to implement and provide systems administration support for Evergreen, the college’s new integrated library management system (ILS).

University libraries have been particularly hard hit by budget cuts that make it difficult to balance growing software needs with other priorities. Providing electronic access to library catalogs with an ILS costs many institutions more than $200,000 a year for software alone, not including expensive hardware and server costs.
“We were thrilled to find that Snell Pro offered a reliable, effective solution that will save us more than $40,000 this year alone,” said Dan Murphy, director of library & information technology services for Columbia College. “We knew that we would not be able to fulfill our library’s mission unless we found a more cost-effective software solution. By implementing Evergreen, we can use those much-needed funds in other areas,” concluded Murphy.

Columbia College expects to complete the Evergreen implementation and begin using the software as its sole ILS in early 2012.
