IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The University of California, Irvine Extension is pleased to announce its web design and development certificate program with newly enhanced materials to better accommodate participants in the field. Individuals pursuing the certificate will have the option of taking either the “web design track” or “web development track” as part of the program. The “web design track” is geared toward professionals interested in the graphics layout side of website design, while the “web development track” is for individuals interested in the functional aspects of websites. In addition, two new “web design track” online courses will start during fall quarter – with registration beginning on July 29, and instruction starting on Oct. 3 and running through Nov. 13.
“The new web design and development certificate program reflects UC Irvine Extension’s commitment to empowering the information technology leaders of tomorrow by offering the most cutting edge learning experiences of today,” says Melanie Mitchell, acting director of management, marketing and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. “With the growing trend of moving beyond first generation HTML-based web pages, participants will become educated on the latest interactive, state-of-the-art, web-based applications to support the demands of tomorrow’s e-business processes.”
Formerly a specialized studies program, the new web design and development certificate program was expanded to include both the “web design track” and “web development track” enabling students to utilize the latest applications for creating a functional website from both a user and business perspective.
The “web design track” will prepare professionals entering the web design field by introducing the latest techniques for crafting the layout and organization of websites. Applications featured in the program include HTML, Photoshop, Cascading Style Sheets, Information Architecture and Graphical Design Concepts. In addition, two new online courses will be offered this fall. “Effective Information Design for the Web” will cover the ways in which web developers can present information in a clear, compelling and meaningful manner. The second course is “Overview of Rich Internet Applications with Flash, Java, and Silverlight”, which will introduce participants to Rich Internet Applications, including what they consist of, and some of the most common technologies for building them.
The “web development track” will prepare participants to become professional web developers by managing the functional aspects of websites and their applications such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and Flash.
