University of Washington Selects Skire Unifier for University-Wide Capital Program Management

Initiative Will Deliver Consistency and Visibility to All Capital Project Stakeholders

MENLO PARK, Calif.--()--Skire, Inc. (www.skire.com), the leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, facilities and real estate, today announced that the University of Washington has chosen Skire Unifier to provide real-time information for capital project and program management across all departments and project stakeholders. The Unifier solution will provide a single, Web-based platform for automating the collection of project proposals, managing estimates and funding, scheduling, project cost control, document management and dashboard reporting.

The University of Washington’s Capital Projects Office (CPO) plans, develops and delivers physical environments to support and enhance the university's mission. CPO manages design and construction of new and remodeled university facilities at the Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell campuses and other remote facilities. CPO provides programming, pre-design, cost estimating, design and constructions services for building alterations, additions, new construction and grounds improvements. Projects range in size from a few thousand dollars to $100 million and more. While project volume varies with funding, over recent years CPO typically manages approximately 250 projects at any given time.

“Accurate, timely information is the key to effective management of our portfolio,” said Sara Markham Voogt, information services project manager at University of Washington Capital Projects Office. “Sophisticated business intelligence and reporting transparency are features that we want to deliver to our clients while simultaneously providing automated detailed cost, scheduling and document management capabilities to our project managers. Skire Unifier’s robust capital program and project management capabilities will enable us to satisfy these objectives.”

The ability to gain at-a-glance status of any project will allow the division to optimize capital program management. Skire Unifier will deliver the ability to automate the collection of suggested project ideas, initial estimating, funding, cost management, scheduling and document management. A key feature of the new system is its ability to automatically deliver exception reporting across the entire university project portfolio with executive-level dashboards. This capability will significantly simplify the division’s ability to disseminate information to its clients in real time.

“We are pleased to be chosen by the University of Washington as its capital program management solution,” said John Leet, vice president of product marketing at Skire. “The University will benefit from Unifier’s robust capabilities and ease-of-use, as well as from collaborating with our substantial base of customers in both the higher education sector and the Seattle area to maximize its return on investment.”
