SAN DIEGO--()--JobWorks, Inc. has been awarded 3.2 million dollars from the San Diego Workforce Partnership to continue operations at the San Diego Metro Career Centers. The Career Centers provide employment and job training services, and are operated by JobWorks Inc. The San Diego Workforce Partnership funds job training programs, like those at the Metro Career Centers, to meet the region's demand for qualified workers.

Although the county’s unemployment has gone down in the last two months, more than 149,000 San Diegans continue to be out of work and are looking for employment.
“The Career Centers are an important part of the community, especially in trying economic times like these,” said Steve Corona, president of JobWorks, Inc. “The commitment of these federal dollars means the Career Centers can continue to help those with employment, whether it’s job training, job placement or career counseling.”
The Metro Career Centers serve hundreds monthly, placing job seekers in San Diego positions ranging from customer service and transportation to biotechnology and health care.
Services Available at No Cost
Metro Career Center services for job seekers are provided free of charge and include:
- Training programs and Career Ladders
- Quick connections to employers with active job openings
- Workshops (social media, resume development, skill assessments, job search methods)
The Career Center also works with local employers offering:
- Customized recruitment activities and referral of qualified applicants
- Access to funds for training new employees
- Labor market information and hiring trend surveys
The San Diego Career Centers website www.metrocareercenters.org provides a job-related events calendar, youth employment information and hiring services for the disabled.
