The ‘Online Album’ branded service was launched in association with NewBay to initially provide photo storage for U.S. Cellular’s 6.1 million subscribers. Now, leveraging NewBay’s LifeCache products and platform, U.S. Cellular is adding enhanced features and subscriber value to its media album service, including drag & drop to social networks, bulk media upload, advanced image editing, and cloud storage. In addition, to improve user experience and service adoption, U.S. Cellular will pre-embed the album as a menu option on Android and Brew devices, enabling one-click upload to the cloud.

As part of this upgrade, U.S. Cellular deployed NewBay’s LifeCache Social Networking Gateway (SNG), to enable content sharing across multiple social networks including Facebook, Photobucket and Myspace. The LifeCache SNG is uniquely designed to seamlessly manage multiple social networks, and allows users to engage with friends and family across a variety of sites at once, direct from any Internet connected device. It is the most feature-rich and flexible system that allows operators and device makers to add social networking functionality to their current mobile and web services, or to provide new, aggregated and scalable social networking services.
