InformationWeek Selects AirStrip OB as a Vital Healthcare App

Groundbreaking mobile patient monitoring solution chosen as a finalist for ‘Mobile App Smackdown’ July 12; event will highlight innovations in mHealth

SAN ANTONIO--()--InformationWeek has selected AirStrip Technologies, Inc. to participate and compete as part of a daylong conference that will recognize the state of the art in mobile health technology, AirStrip officials announced today.

InformationWeek, the event sponsor, calls the ‘Mobile App Smackdown’ competition a celebration of the most transformative healthcare apps now available. The event will take place as part of a Healthcare IT Leadership Forum in New York City July 12.

InformationWeek selected AirStrip OB as one of the top five apps for the competition. More than 50 nominees were initially considered. A panel of editors, healthcare practitioners, and IT experts will select a finalist from among the top five. The panel’s criteria includes weighing which app has the most potential to help provide quality care, strengthen clinician workflow, and keep physicians and patients in closer contact.

AirStrip Executive Vice President Bruce Brandes is scheduled to attend the event and demo AirStrip OB, which is now in use by a fast-growing number of obstetricians at labor and delivery units across the country. AirStrip OB gives physicians the unprecedented ability to monitor the vital waveform data of their patients, including fetal heartbeat and maternal contraction patterns, in virtual real time on their smartphone or tablet.

“We are honored to be recognized for a solution that physicians tell us is fundamentally improving their ability to care for patients,” Brandes said. “Our mission is to support meaningful mobility, using native mobile technology to securely transform and deliver visually compelling data in real time that result in improved workflow and stronger, more informed clinical decision-making - anytime, anywhere.”

AirStrip OB and AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING are the only US Food and Drug Administration-cleared mobile applications that can send virtual real-time waveforms to mobile devices. AirStrip PATIENT MONITORING is available for virtually the entire hospital environment, delivering waveforms including cardiac, SPO2, ventilator, arterial line and other critical information for patients in areas such as ICU, CCU, PACU, OR, ED and telemetry, among others.

The other solution in the AirStrip suite, AirStrip CARDIOLOGY, sends digital, enhanced ECGs from pre-hospital and inpatient cardiology care settings to the physician’s mobile device.

These solutions allow physicians to receive critical patient data virtually anywhere, anytime the mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular signal.
