PALM BEACH, Fla.--()--The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO), the preeminent statewide professional association for medical and osteopathic doctors who specialize in vision care, installed William J. Mallon, M.D., as president at its Annual Meeting, Masters in Ophthalmology, held June 24-26 in Palm Beach, FL.
As FSO president, Dr. Mallon will help lead the nonprofit association, which represents more than 500 medical doctors focused on protecting the medical and surgical specialty of ophthalmology. In addition to active participation in legislative advocacy and the dissemination of responsible information to physicians and patients throughout the state, the FSO also provides continuing medical education opportunities.
Since 2003, Dr. Mallon has practiced at the Center for Advanced Eye Care in Vero Beach, FL.
Dr. Mallon earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his Medical Degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN, and his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Tennessee. He also completed a Fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Ophthalmic Plastic Surgical Associates in Memphis, TN.
He earned his board certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2000.
