FastSoft to Demo Integration With Google Web Performance Tools at Velocity Conference 2011

Extends Existing Transport Acceleration Technology to Include Front End Optimization

Velocity 2011

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--FastSoft, Inc., a leading Web acceleration software company, announced today it will demonstrate a new web performance optimization solution that combines its origin-content acceleration (OCA) technology with Google’s mod_pagespeed front-end optimization (FEO) tool.

The demo will occur at this year’s O'Reilly Velocity Conference, scheduled for June 14-16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in FastSoft’s booth (#104).

FastSoft’s OCA technology augments content delivery networks (CDNs) and front-end optimization (FEO) technology by accelerating the delivery of dynamic and non-cacheable content that must be served from origin servers. When these servers are located far from the end user, a significant transport latency delay can often greatly slow the entire page download speed.

Google’s mod_pagespeed is an open-source Apache FEO module that automatically optimizes web pages and the resources on them. In the demo, FastSoft engineers have integrated these two solutions to be aware of each other’s activities and to adjust their own output to reduce page download times by up to 50% when compared with each function operating separately.

The demonstration will feature a website without acceleration, a website accelerated with mod_pagespeed only, and a website accelerated with mod_pagespeed and FastSoft’s OCA.

"More web properties are considering ways to boost site performance for both PC and mobile users, even if they already use a content delivery network,” said Jim Davis, senior analyst networks and media for Tier1 Research. “That’s why OCA and related technologies are of interest to many of these companies; in turn, we expect to see dramatic growth in use of both server and network-focused technologies for a complete web performance optimization solution.”

“Speeding up dynamic content is critical to making any additional dramatic improvements in webpage download performance,” said Ed Snyder, FastSoft CEO. “OCA and FEO technology each tackle different parts of this challenge and this demonstration will show how integrating these functions can lead to better overall improvement.”

“Improving web performance means a better user experience for our customers and that’s why we are a FastSoft customer,” said Sam Peterson, senior vice president of technology for Overstock.com. “We are pleased that FastSoft is looking for innovative ways of providing even better performance for our customers and look forward to trialing the combined solution.”

The Velocity Conference will provide three days of intensely practical training, illuminating case studies, and strategies for building a culture of high performance and reliability, delivered by the best in the business. FastSoft will be exhibiting in booth 104. For more information, visit http://velocityconf.com/velocity2011.
