Lahey Clinic Selects Prime-A-Pump to Build and Maintain Drug Libraries

LOS ANGELES--()--Zynx Health Device Network, an entrepreneurial developer of clinical decision support for medical devices, today announced that the world-class Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, has selected Prime-A-Pump, a recently released Zynx innovation designed to improve patient safety and cost efficiency, to build and maintain smart-pump drug libraries throughout the healthcare organization.

“Zynx’s Prime-A-Pump software is an effective tool to ensure that we have a safe medication delivery system for our patients.”

Prime-A-Pump is a first-of-its-kind information resource and collaboration tool, which provides guidance to hospital personnel in configuring the safety limits within their pump drug library software. These safety limits help prevent dangerous medication administration errors. Prime-A-Pump’s easy-to-use interface gives organizations the ability to review the continually updated clinical evidence, customize their drug library recommendations at the local level, have virtual conversations with colleagues, vote on recommendations, and update and archive an unlimited number of versions within their own secured environment. Drug libraries can be customized within a single hospital and/or shared across multiple hospitals within a healthcare system.

“We are delighted to have Lahey Clinic as one of our early customers,” says Nancy Greengold, MD, president of Zynx Health Device Network. “The organization is truly committed to improving the quality and safety of patient care, and is a leader in implementing clinical decision support programs that provide benefit for both patients and their caregivers.”

“Patient safety is the number one priority at Lahey Clinic,” says Tom Siepka, R.Ph., MS, director of pharmacy services at Lahey Clinic. “Zynx’s Prime-A-Pump software is an effective tool to ensure that we have a safe medication delivery system for our patients.”

Prime-A-Pump provides a thoughtful approach for configuring values within smart pump drug libraries and cuts down on alerts that could potentially disrupt the clinical workflow and lead to decreased use of safety software.

“This innovation was meticulously created with real-world practice in mind, using a blended evidence- and experience-based methodology,” says Greengold.
