Break Media Names New CFO and CTO

Leading Digital Video Publisher Taps Industry Veterans Andrew Doyle and David Subar to Help Build on Company’s Recent Rapid Growth

LOS ANGELES--()--Break Media, a leading creator and distributor of digital video content, today announced the hiring of Andrew Doyle as Chief Financial Officer and David Subar as Chief Technology Officer. Doyle and Subar join Break Media’s growing executive team and will work from the company’s Los Angeles headquarters. In his new role as CTO, Subar will be responsible for all product management and development, leading teams based in Los Angeles and Shanghai. As CFO, Doyle will manage the company’s financial operations and strategic financial planning.

“Our growth in recent years has been nothing short of explosive, and continuing to build out our leadership team to help sustain that growth is one of my top priorities,” said Keith Richman, CEO of Break Media. “Andrew and David bring financial and technical expertise that will be invaluable as we focus on the second half of 2011 and beyond.”

In the last year, Break has expanded into the 34th-largest web property and a top-five video ad network in the US, reaching more than 140 million unique visitors and streaming more than 2 billion videos each month. Break.com is currently the top comedy destination on the web, according to comScore, and the company recently launched two new flagship properties into its network: Game Front, a video game news and reviews site, and Tu Vez, a Hispanic male-focused entertainment site. The company has also ramped up its original video production arm, putting them on track to launch over 1000 original videos in 2011.

As CTO, David Subar will focus on leveraging Break’s rapid growth within mobile and internet-connected TV platforms, among his other responsibilities. Prior to joining Break Media, Subar held numerous technology leadership positions, most recently serving as CTO of Oversee.net. His previous posts include CTO of PeopleLink and CIO of Interthinx. In 1994, Subar founded Interna Ltd., a game development company that created leading titles for game publishers like Activision, Interplay, and IBM. Subar holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Ohio State University.

Andy Doyle joins as CFO and will play a significant role as Break continues to grow at a rapid pace. Doyle previously served as Chief of Staff to the CEO of Activision-Blizzard, one of the largest interactive entertainment companies in the world. While there, Doyle also served as Vice President, Head of Finance, for Activision’s largest business unit. Previously Doyle was a Vice President with Summit Partners, focused on investments in software and technology. His other work experience includes Mercer Management Consulting and the Bridgespan Group. Doyle holds a bachelor’s in economics from Williams College and a master’s of business administration from Stanford University.

The addition of Subar and Doyle to the senior team at Break Media comes on the heels of the company’s recent hiring of entertainment industry veteran and former Endeavor talent agent Greg Siegel as SVP Entertainment Development.
