GREENVILLE, S.C.--()--AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has developed an UL-approved board-to-board connector series specifically designed for the LED lighting industry. Designated the 9159 Series, the cost-effective connectors are approved to the UL 1977 Standard under certificate #E90723, which was issued on February 22, 2011. The 9159 Series is UL-approved up to 3 Amps.
These connectors provide design flexibility by offering right angle, plug-and-socket (two-piece) connectors for coplanar or end-to-end mating of either FR4 or metal core PCB’s for linear strip lighting applications. The connectors feature a small footprint, making them ideal for applications where multiple printed circuit boards need to be butted-up against each other to provide a continuous LED placement on small centerlines.
The two-piece connector system includes single sided SMT board-to-board connectors that are only 3.0mm high and 5.50mm wide when mated together, thus maximizing board space for other components. A cabled, latching wire-to-board plug connector is available which mates with the standard PCB socket connectors to bring power and control signal on and off the PCBs. The connectors are available in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 position.
The 9159 Series connectors are tested to industrial levels of shock, vibration and temperature cycling per IEC specifications to ensure dependability in harsh environments. The connectors are ideal for use in LED lighting strips and architectural lights used for building feature enhancement or internal feature lighting. The connectors are also suited for rugged industrial and automotive applications.
The 9159 Series connectors have an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. The contacts are gold plated in the mating area for enhanced reliability in harsh environments and extended life applications.
These connectors are RoHS-compliant.
