IDC Frontier Chooses Cloud.com CloudStack for Innovative Cloud Offering in Japan

Leading data center solutions provider using CloudStack for its cloud services offering, NOAH, giving customers a self-service model to effectively manage IT resources

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cloud.com, a leader in open source cloud computing software, today announced that IDC Frontier (IDCF), a subsidiary of Yahoo! Japan Corporation that provides data center solutions to the Japanese market, is using the company’s flagship product CloudStack™ for its latest public cloud services offering, NOAH Cloud Services. Launching in July, NOAH will provide a fully-automated cloud management service with an open API, allowing for public and private cloud integration and integrated management between IT infrastructures through an OSS-based service interface optimized for the Japanese market.

“We chose CloudStack based on the comprehensiveness of the solution and its ability to help us deliver to market a reliable, cost-effective solution our customers need. As the first Japanese company to implement CloudStack, we hope to further solidify our role in innovating and driving Japan’s cloud adoption.”

As the adoption of cloud services increases globally, data centers are facing mounting demand to manage IT resources in various ways. The requirement for hybrid management of both on-premise and public cloud resources is becoming progressively more common. Cloud.com has proven history of providing a highly scalable platform that can be deployed both on-premise as a private cloud or as a hosted cloud offering through service providers. Addressing the need for managing multiple cloud resources, Cloud.com brings out-of-the-box integration with RightScale; enabling CloudStack to instantly provide a hybrid cloud environment that interoperates with other public cloud offerings like Amazon EC2. Given their tremendous traction and key partnerships with companies like RightScale, IDCF determined CloudStack is the ideal OSS-based cloud technology that enables them to accelerate their time to market with a solution that meets all of their requirements.

“IDCF was one of the first cloud service providers in Japan and continues to be the market leader,” said Ichiro Nakayama, division director of Business Development at IDCF. “We chose CloudStack based on the comprehensiveness of the solution and its ability to help us deliver to market a reliable, cost-effective solution our customers need. As the first Japanese company to implement CloudStack, we hope to further solidify our role in innovating and driving Japan’s cloud adoption.”

Cloud.com is committed to the Japanese market and also has already experienced key successes in the Asia-Pacific market: Korea Telecom is using CloudStack for both its private and public cloud services. Tata Communications is also using CloudStack for its public cloud offering, InstaCompute, delivering services throughout India and Southeast Asia. Addressing the mounting demand for cloud computing offerings in Japan, Cloud.com has recently announced a partnership with Kumoya, who market and promote Cloud.com’s technology in Japan. Kumoya is leading the efforts around delivering and implementing CloudStack within IDCF.

“IDCF’s selection of CloudStack as its core cloud infrastructure technology will ensure a truly global cloud service is delivered within Asia by establishing interoperability between other CloudStack-based cloud services within the region,” said Sheng Liang, co-founder and CEO of Cloud.com. “We view IDCF as a key strategic partner for Cloud.com in Japan and look forward to the success NOAH will bring to the company and to its impact on the Japanese cloud market.”
