AUSTELL, Ga.--()--YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, today enhanced its Model 35H entrance system with additional high performance glazing options. Part of YKK AP’s ProTek® family of products, the Model 35H is the industry’s most durable hurricane impact and blast mitigation entrance system. The Model 35H is now able to accept 1” laminated insulating glass, providing architects and building owners with an entrance system which meets increasingly stringent energy codes, while maintaining the system’s protective qualities.
“The use of impact resistant and blast mitigation glazing systems is a critical requirement to minimizing damage during destructive events”
The upgraded Model 35H entrance system passed rigorous testing standards and received Florida Statewide Product Approval, providing enhanced protection for the building and occupants, particularly in environments like schools and government buildings. It now provides a redesigned glazing pocket as well as wet and dry glaze options for hurricane impact and blast mitigation, accommodating glazing for ¼” to 1” with a variety of glazing stops and gaskets. When glazed with standard 1” insulating glass units with a center-of-glass U-factor of 0.29, the total system achieves a U-factor of 0.78.
“The use of impact resistant and blast mitigation glazing systems is a critical requirement to minimizing damage during destructive events,” said Mike Turner, vice president of marketing, YKK AP. “While our Model 35H entrance system has always provided a strong level of protection, we are excited to take its performance to the next level by offering advanced glazing options to architects and building professionals – contributing to a higher level of energy efficiency.”
By integrating with YKK AP’s YHS storefront and YHC curtain wall framing systems, the enhanced entrance system provides maximum security under the most demanding conditions. In addition, expanded hardware options offer building owners accessibility options that include rim panic exit devices combined with an impact rated aluminum removable mullion, or single point locks paired with flush bolts on the inactive panel.
The Model 35H will be showcased at AIA in New Orleans, May 12-14, booth number 2811. For more information on the ProTek family of impact-resistant and blast-mitigating entrances, please visit www.ykkap.com.
