MINNEAPOLIS--()--Latoya Lane, PhD, a graduate of Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, has been appointed director of re-entry for the Florida Department of Corrections. Dr. Lane earned her PhD in Public Safety with a Criminal Justice specialization from Capella in 2010. As of March 31, 2011, nearly 40,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella, with 31 percent enrolled in Capella’s doctoral degree programs, and 47 percent enrolled in Capella’s master’s degree programs.

Prior to accepting her current position, Dr. Lane was deputy chief/strategic planner for the Indiana Department of Correction. She also serves on the National Justice Studies Online Advisory Board for Rasmussen College, and teaches an online criminal justice class at Harrison College. “All of these opportunities came to me within seven months of earning a PhD at Capella,” said Dr. Lane. “It’s been a journey of success.”
