TuneIn Adds Live Radio Recording Feature to Android App, Releases Free iPhone Version

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TuneIn (formerly RadioTime, Inc.), a developer of apps for finding and listening to radio on connected devices, today announced it has added the ability to pause, rewind and record live radio to its TuneIn Radio Pro Android app. The company also released a free version of its popular app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. TuneIn Radio, it is available now in Apple’s iOS App Store. Now Android and iPhone users can choose free or a Pro edition, selling for $.99, with pause and recording. TuneIn today also unveiled the new TuneIn.com web site as transitions its online content and apps under the TuneIn brand from RadioTime, which will no longer exist.

According to the iPhone app tracking and analytics site App Annie, TuneIn Pro is the best-selling paid music app for the iPhone in more than a dozen countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Spain and Australia, and ranks among the top five in more than 20 additional countries. The free version for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad announced today incorporates all features from the existing Pro version except for the recording technology.

The new TuneIn Radio Pro for Android provides users with the same recording feature that was previously only available for the iPhone and iPad. It is available now for $0.99 on the Amazon Appstore for Android, and will appear in the Android Marketplace through the week of May 1, 2011.

A version of TuneIn Radio Pro for Blackberry that will also include the recording functionality is scheduled to be available in early May 2011.

All versions of the TuneIn Radio app feature a directory of more than 50,000 AM/FM and Internet-only radio stations and podcasts airing in 140 countries and broadcasting in more than 100 different languages, the largest selection of any radio app. TuneIn's unique search technology enables users to search for music and programs by the names of artists or on-air personalities, specific songs, teams, station call letters and genre. Other features include using the device's GPS and WiFi capabilities to automatically detect local stations and display what's on-the-air in real-time.

Pricing and Availability

TuneIn Radio is a free app for Phone/iPad, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, Palm and Samsung. TuneIn Pro for Android is $0.99 and available on the Amazon Appstore this week, TuneIn for iPhone is available for $0.99 from the Apple iTunes App Store.
