National Public Gardens Day is a national day of awareness in which communities nationwide are invited to visit and learn about the important role their public gardens play in promoting environmental stewardship and awareness, plant and water conservation, and more. Now in its third year, National Public Gardens Day was created in partnership between the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) and irrigation product and service provider, Rain Bird.
As an exclusive media partner, Better Homes and Gardens is offering a free admission pass on www.bhg.com/freegarden good for two free adult admissions to public gardens participating in National Public Gardens Day. A list of gardens across the nation that are participating in this event is available at bhg.com/freegarden or www.nationalpublicgardensday.org.
“In the magazine and online, Better Homes and Gardens helps readers create beautiful garden and outdoor spaces to enhance their home and lifestyle. We’re excited to offer consumers another opportunity for inspiration, by experiencing one of our country’s outstanding public gardens,” said Gayle Butler, editor in chief, Better Homes and Gardens.
In celebration of botanical gardens, arboreta, conservatories, educational gardens and historical landscapes, many of the APGA’s 500 member institutions will mark the day with special events and activities for schools, families and thousands of visitors. Many of the activities will continue through Mother’s Day weekend, offering visitors time to enjoy the beauty of the gardens while learning about each garden’s commitment to education, research and environmental stewardship.
“Through this offer, Better Homes and Gardens readers will be able to spend a day at their local public garden and see first hand how the Nation’s public gardens are great sources of beauty, inspiration and ideas that can be applied at home to create their own sanctuaries,” said Dan Stark, executive director of the APGA. “Make sure to go online to bhg.com to get a free pass to National Public Gardens Day.”
