SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pocket Gems, a leader and pioneer in free-to-play mobile games, is continuing its rapid growth by topping 28 million downloads across its successful product line, hiring more than 20 people so far this year and readying its move to brand-new corporate headquarters in San Francisco next month. The company’s biggest hit, Tap Zoo, has spent 27 of the last 31 weeks in Apple’s top 10 grossing app chart.

Pocket Gems has expanded its executive team by bringing on Ben Liu as chief operating officer to help guide the company as it matures from a start-up to a world-leader in free-to-play mobile gaming. Liu joins Pocket Gems from Playdom, where he oversaw its largest studio as executive producer of hit social games like the City of Wonder franchise.
The company is also continuing to grow its game development staff, with more than 20 new additions this year including Art Director Jeff Hunter, former art director at Electronic Arts; Director of Product Optimization Niels Hoven, formerly a senior producer at Playdom; and Creative Director Rich Cooluris, formerly the Pogo studio director at Electronic Arts. The company is continuing to hire and will move into its new corporate headquarters in San Francisco next month.
