AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Users Get Free Voicemail-to-Text from Yap

Yap Voicemail app now available to 10 million plus Android users

CTIA WIRELESS 2011

ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Yap, a provider of automated, cloud-based speech recognition services, announces availability of Yap Voicemail™ for Android. The free application automatically converts voicemails into text making it easier and more convenient to access, search and respond to voice messages. More than 10 million1 AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon users with Android phones can now download Yap Voicemail from the Android Market.

A recent study on behaviors and attitudes towards voicemail reveals that users spend more than 1 billion hours annually on voicemail, yet are highly dissatisfied.2 Users cite the following as the primary challenges of voicemail: listening to long and rambling voice messages, navigating complex voicemail menu systems and needing to grab paper and pencil to take notes. Yap Voicemail solves these problems by converting voice messages into text and presenting the results in an intuitive graphical user interface on their mobile device.

“Android users are impressed by how accurately Yap Voicemail converts their voice messages into text,” says Marcello Typrin, vice president of product management at Yap. “They also appreciate how quickly they are able to setup Yap Voicemail on their phones and the streamlined user interface that allows them to quickly access their messages.”

Key features of Yap Voicemail include:

  • Quickly Read Voicemail Messages: Yap Voicemail lets users glance at their Android phones to quickly preview messages and determine whether they require immediate attention. In addition, users are able to check their voice message in situations like business meetings or loud settings where listening to messages is not practical.
  • Find Important Messages Quickly: Instead of listening to each message until finding that critical piece of information, Yap Voicemail lets users type in a few keywords that describe what they are searching. Yap Voicemail displays transcriptions of all of the voice messages that match.
  • Reply Using Email and Text Messages: Just because someone called and left a message doesn’t mean a return phone call is required. Thanks to reply functionality that is integrated with Android’s native SMS and email, Yap Voicemail lets users conveniently and quickly respond to voicemail messages via a text message or email.

Yap is again participating in the Innovation Showcase at CTIA and is located at Booth 4290-M. For more information on Yap Voicemail, visit us at CTIA or at www.yapinc.com/contact.
