Five Associa Managed Communities Named Finalists in the 2011 Florida Communities of Excellence Awards

DALLAS--()--Associa, the nation’s leading community association management firm, is proud to announce that five communities managed by Association Services of Florida (ASF) and Rampart Properties were named as finalists in the 2011 Florida Communities of Excellence Awards

The Florida Communities of Excellence Awards are the only statewide, independently judged program recognizing community associations for best practices and accomplishments that set the standard with programs such as disaster preparedness, environmental protection, water & energy conservation, community relations, financial innovation or safety & security. The awards are sponsored by the Florida Community Association Journal and Becker & Poliakoff.

“This is an outstanding example of the benefits of living in an association and the positive outcomes that result from great working relationships between homeowners, board members and community managers,” said Associa CEO John Carona. “Congratulations to not only our companies, but these particular associations for their fine work this past year.”

Family Friendly Programs (Small Communities)

Country Creek Club Homeowners Association, ASF - Country Creek is promoting activities for all ages in the community through its Neighborhood Watch Committee. The community has used posters and door-to-door delivery of newsletters to invite all ages to a “Back to School” barbecue/fair, movie night and 5K run.

Hollywood Oaks Homeowners Association, ASF - Hollywood Oaks intentionally reaches out to new residents and provides activities for its large population of children and their families such as: A “dive-in” theater held by the community pool, rock wall climbing, barbecue parties, face painting contests and sports contests. The community has also provided CPR classes.

Energy & Water Conservation and Sustainable Practices (Small Communities)

The Pointe at Pompano Beach Condominium, ASF - The Pointe at Pompano Beach recycles water for landscape irrigation, saving almost $8,000 on water bills last year. They have cut their energy consumption by changing their pool to electric heating and by upgrading light fixtures and bulbs to energy efficient models.

Disaster Preparedness Initiatives (Small Communities)

Parkshore Plaza Condominium Association, Inc., Rampart - Parkshore Plaza has developed a comprehensive disaster plan explaining community priorities, delineating between association and personal responsibilities and assigning tasks for each phase of a developing emergency. Details are provided for the most likely scenario of a hurricane, through issues such as security, loss of utility services, communication and dealing with floodwaters. The plan is site specific, considering access to outsiders, location of generators, trash and sewer arrangements.

Florida Friendly Landscaping (Small Communities)

Casablanca Condominium Association, Rampart - The Casablanca community started a six-year plan to improve the property’s appearance while lowering water and grounds maintenance costs. The Pinellas County extension has assisted in developing a plan utilizing some of the existing landscaping, grass and trees, while adding new drip lines and upgrading their existing sprinkler systems.
