Axis Introduces High-Performance, Four-Channel Video Encoder Blade with H.264 and Audio

AXIS Q7414 Rack-Based Design Brings Benefits of Intelligent Network Video and Audio to Analog Systems of up to 84 Cameras

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, introduces a new video encoder blade supporting high-performance H.264 with true multi-streaming and two-way audio support on each channel, enabling existing analog cameras to be integrated into a more powerful IP-based video surveillance system.

“Most encoders today do well with video benefits like PTZ control and motion detection, but this blade’s audio capabilities adds a new level of performance by allowing operators to communicate remotely with visitors and potential perpetrators, as well as expand the intelligence of their system with audio detection.”

The video encoder blade, which supports all types of analog video cameras, converts analog signals into digital streams that are subsequently sent over IP networks for viewing and recording on networked computers. AXIS Q7414 has four analog video channels as well as four bi-directional audio channels and can provide multiple, individually configurable video streams from each channel at full frame rate in all resolutions. The built-in phantom power source with adjustable input gain simplifies the installation of balanced microphones.

“There are still millions of analog cameras installed worldwide and their users are missing out on many benefits of IP technology that could be achieved by simply digitizing the stream, including leveraging common of the shelf products for storage and having the ability to easily scale the system to meet the company’s ever-changing surveillance needs,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications Inc. “Most encoders today do well with video benefits like PTZ control and motion detection, but this blade’s audio capabilities adds a new level of performance by allowing operators to communicate remotely with visitors and potential perpetrators, as well as expand the intelligence of their system with audio detection.”

AXIS Q7414 includes intelligent capabilities such as enhanced video motion detection and active tampering alarm as well as pan, tilt, zoom support on each individual channel. The video encoder blade is supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner program.

The new blade was designed to fit perfectly into AXIS 291 1U Video Server Rack and AXIS Q7900 Rack, which is a high-density rack solution with support for up to 84 analog cameras.

The product will be available in Q2 2011 through Axis’ distribution channels with an MSRP of $1199. For photos and other resources, please visit: http://www.axis.com/sv/corporate/press/press_material.htm?key=q7414.
