Online Bidding at Ironwood Golf & Country Club Auction Drives Higher Than Expected Results

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Proxibid (www.proxibid.com), the world’s largest real auction marketplace, today announced online results of this weekend’s liquidation auction of the Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Omaha, NE. The liquidation auction of one of Omaha’s oldest golf courses took place over two days and included more than 2,000 lots of restaurant equipment, furnishings, golf course maintenance equipment, golf carts, building salvage and more, of which nearly 30% sold to online bidders via Proxibid. Nearly 1,100 bidders from across the globe logged on to bid online during this live auction webcast, and hundreds more took advantage of Proxibid’s live audio and video to watch the event. Forty-one percent of all bids come through the Internet, and 29% of all items sold online.

Online interest ranged from furnishings and decorative items to industrial kitchen equipment, building salvage and golf carts. A children’s pool slide in the shape of a duck sold online for $550, and club memorabilia including a small bronze sign with the words “Ironwood Ballroom” sold to an online bidder for $110. Golf course maintenance equipment such as mowers and sprayers sold online for anywhere from $3,000 - $5,000. The salvage rights to the electrical system sold to an online bidder from New Hampshire for $20,000, which was the highest bid placed during the auction.
