ChinaBio® Partnering Forum 2011 Highlights China Innovation

CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ChinaBio^® LLC and EBD Group will hold the third annual ChinaBio^® Partnering Forum on May 11-12, 2011 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, China. This year an Innovation Showcase has been added to the event to highlight novel technology development in China.

The Innovation Showcase will feature over 30 top professors and researchers from China’s leading universities and institutes presenting their novel technologies to leading biotechnology dealmakers from around the world. Projects selected to present are from many of the top universities and institutes in greater China including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shanghai University, Guangzhou Medical University, Chinese National Human Genome Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking Union Medical Sciences, among others. Submissions are by invitation only and twenty projects have been selected to present thus far. Each professor chosen by the review committee will make a 15 minute presentation on their project during the ChinaBio Partnering Forum. Three of the projects will also be selected to receive a “Most Innovative Technology” award.

The Innovation Showcase was created in response to requests from pharma companies seeking early stage technology in China. ChinaBio’s research group identified 3,200 novel molecules patented in China, positioning China as a rich source of technology for multi-national pharmas seeking to fill their pipeline.

The ChinaBio^® Partnering Forum is expected to attract over 650 attendees from around the world. Last year’s event attracted 560 delegates and generated over 650 one-on-one meetings, making it the largest and most productive partnering meeting in China. The Partnering Forum is an international event with 29% of the delegates coming from Europe and the US, and 1/3 of the delegates from companies’ top management (Chairman, CEO, President, etc.).
