BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At Mobile World Congress, Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced leading global publishers, including Condé Nast, Dennis Publishing, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and National Geographic are leveraging Adobe® Digital Publishing Suite tools to create and distribute their iconic and influential titles on Android™ tablets. By employing new Content Viewer for Android, part of the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, publishers can significantly expand the reach of their content by enabling consumption across the broad range of Android tablets expected to come to market soon, led by the much-anticipated Motorola Xoom.
“In addition to the iPad, readers expect to see their favorite magazines and newspapers on Android devices,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Creative and Interactive Solutions Business Unit, Adobe. “Thanks to Adobe’s digital publishing innovation our publishing partners can create compelling and engaging editions for the Android platform, where millions of potential readers and subscribers will help drive the rapid expansion of digital titles. The explosive growth of Android devices will be key to publishers building profitable and sustainable businesses.”
Available today through the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite prerelease program, Content Viewer for Android technology provides a rich reading experience with support for intuitive navigation, rich visualizations and highly interactive overlays and HTML5 support. Additionally, a robust set of metrics can be captured through the Content Viewer, providing publishers with the opportunity for in-depth analysis of editorial and advertising engagement.
“Using Adobe technology we’re looking forward to bringing some of the world’s most beloved and influential magazines to the Android platform,” said Joe Simon, chief technology officer, Condé Nast. “Together Condé Nast and Adobe have greatly impacted how digital magazines can be produced, delivered and read – with digital editions of WIRED and The New Yorker.”
“National Geographic has been creating content that inspires people for over one hundred years,” said David Griffin, executive editor, E-Publishing, National Geographic. “We are excited about making our content available to consumers in flexible and convenient ways across a broad range of tablet devices. National Geographic brings incredible value to consumers who choose to experience our 50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic on an Android tablet.”
“We believe that consumers are looking for high performance tablets with clear beautiful displays for enjoying content and media,” said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president, Software and Services Product Management, Motorola Mobility. “With its high performance dual-core processor, and 10.1 inch H display, Motorola XOOM will deliver the perfect reading experience. Motorola and Adobe have a long history of collaboration, and the results of this will enable a stunning digital content experience for mobile devices.”
With today’s announcement, the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite tools can now be used to create content for devices that support Android 2.2 and Android 3.0 operating systems.
