NIEUWEGEIN, Netherlands--()--The amazing results of a recently discovered braintraining method for children and adults with psychiatric complaints have given way to an official presentation of the method, called Viki's View, at a national congress for workers in the psychiatric health care sector in the Netherlands. Most sensational are the positive effects on patients with autism spectrum disorders. The method is based on integration of information channels in the patient's brain which until now people suffering from autism were believed not to be capable of.
The new training method was discovered a year ago by Paula Bartholomeus, educational therapist for children and adults, and her team in Waalre. She named the training after a small child Viki, already able to overview all her sensorial impressions en integrate them in one healthy vision on reality. The training is based on elimination of development impediments and normalisation of cognitive functioning and behavior, based on the normal development of attachment and emotion regulation in children. As this approach requires integration, autistic people were excluded from the experimental treatment at first. But later in the process it became obvious that Viki's View appeared to have a very positive effect on the social and communication skills from people suffering from autism spectrum disorders.
The presentation of Viki's View will be at February 17, 2011 at the Congres on Psychiatric Health Care for youth, in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. More information is available on http://www.vikisview.com or by email from info@vikisview.com. The protocol will be published in April (Bartholomeus, P. Viki's View Apeldoorn/Antwerpen: Garant).
