DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) (Nasdaq: CMCSK), one of the nation’s leading providers of entertainment, information, and communications products and services, today announced the Colorado launch of XFINITY Internet 2go, the company’s high-speed wireless data service. This news comes as Comcast continues its nationwide rollout of the service.
XFINITY Internet 2go provides a mobile Internet solution via wireless data cards for consumers who are on the go. Comcast offers a fourth-generation or 4G wireless service in addition to a nationwide 3G wireless service. Comcast is selling this wireless service independently or as an add-on with one or more of its popular XFINITY Internet, XFINITY TV or XFINITY Voice products, providing mobile broadband wherever and whenever customers need to be connected.
“Colorado is known for being a state that embraces technology, and having 4G and 3G wireless service with blazing fast Internet speeds is evidence to that fact,” said Rich Jennings, Regional Vice President, Comcast Mile High Region. “Comcast continues to drive innovation in the market whether it’s with video, voice, the Internet or now wireless – all for the ultimate benefit of customers.”
Colorado customers now have access to three different wireless data cards and service plans from Comcast:
- XFINITY Internet 2go Metro (4G) service uses a 4G-only data card, giving customers super-fast wireless service within the 4G metro coverage area. The 4G device operates only in a 4G network footprint.
- XFINITY Internet 2go Nationwide (3G) service uses a 3G-only data card, giving customers nationwide wireless service. The 3G-only device operates on Sprint’s national 3G network.
- XFINITY Internet 2go Nationwide Preferred (4G/3G) service delivers fast metro 4G service plus coast-to-coast access on Sprint’s national 3G network. The 4G/3G device operates by switching between available 4G and 3G networks.
The services Comcast is known for in the home are now extending to where consumers work, live and play. High-speed mobile Internet is one of the first products consumers want as a natural extension of Comcast’s super fast XFINITY Internet.
Comcast customers will be eligible for special pricing, with new or existing XFINITY Internet customers receiving wireless service as an add-on for as low as $25 a month for 12 months. Visit www.comcast.com/2go for additional pricing plans and service packages.
Comcast is selling wireless data services following its investment in Clearwire in November 2008. Comcast’s 4G service will be provided via the Clearwire network, and its 3G service will be provided by Sprint’s nationwide 3G network. Comcast is one of the first investors in Clearwire to bring a wireless data card service to market, and Comcast expects to further leverage its partnership with the company to add value to XFINITY bundled products.
