WeP to Launch India’s Fastest Color Printer

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WeP Peripherals Ltd., one of India’s largest employee-owned companies, and Memjet, a global provider of high-speed color printing technologies, are joining forces to bring the world’s fastest color office printers to India. This WeP printer, which is powered by Memjet’s breakthrough technologies, prints up to 60 pages per minute, making it the fastest color printer available in the country and the world. The printer was announced today at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WeP is a pioneer and the largest player in Managed Print Solutions (MPS) in India. It has built a vast geographical reach in India to offer comprehensive print solutions to Enterprise as well as SME segment. Memjet-powered office printers can print color at 1600x800 dots per inch resolution at the rate of a page a second. The Memjet ground-breaking, high-density page wide print heads and associated office-printing devices are twice as fast but only half the cost to run of traditional color office printers, on average.

Memjet’s High-Speed, Color Printing Technology

Memjet represents an entirely new category of technology that makes possible high-quality color printing at never-before seen speeds and quality. Until now, printing technology has been limited to laser and traditional inkjet systems. Current competing office laser printers can provide 60 pages per minute but not in color, and competing inkjet office printers can provide color but only at a fraction of the speed.

Memjet-powered printers provide both color and speed by putting more than 70,000 ink nozzles on a single printhead—17 times that of traditional printheads. The 8.77 inches (222.8mm) printhead spans the width of a page, allowing Memjet-powered printers to deliver more than 700 million drops of ink per second on a page. The Memjet technologies are backed by more than 3,000 global patents, with another 2,000 submitted and pending.

WeP, like other Memjet Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), will incorporate these technologies into its own branded printers that will be “powered by Memjet.”
