ST. LOUIS--()--LaBarge, Inc. (NYSE Amex: LB), a provider of electronics manufacturing services (EMS), has been awarded a $3.5 million contract from General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products to continue producing high-level electronic assemblies for the Aegis Weapon System.
The Aegis Weapon System is the world's premier naval surface weapon system. It seamlessly integrates the AN/SPY-1 radar, the Mk 41 Vertical Launching System and a family of U.S. Navy missiles with its own command and control system. Aegis also is the heart of the U.S. Navy's sea-based missile defense system, one of the first operationally deployed components of the nation's layered network of defenses against cruise and ballistic missile attacks.
LaBarge has manufactured a variety of high-performance electronic assemblies for the Aegis program for more than a decade. Production on this latest contract is expected to begin in May 2011 and continue through November 2011 at LaBarge's Huntsville, Ark., facility.
