LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Supperclub Los Angeles was the setting for the welcoming of Matt Barnes to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles community by the major sponsor of the event, Hollywood Suit Outlet, and other sponsors Saturday evening, December 4. The event raised money for fighting cancer through Athletes vs. Cancer.
The welcoming included sponsors who donated to the cause of Athletes vs. Cancer (AVC), founded in 2009 by Matt Barnes in memory of his mother who lost her battle with cancer three years ago. AVC works with the community and its partners to support research, create awareness, provide screening opportunities and deliver subsequent support to cancer patients. The Foundation has expanded to recruit additional athletes and coaches touched by cancer. Its primary focus in 2010 is to secure a mobile cancer screening van. The vehicle will visit low-income neighborhoods providing free cancer screenings, awareness and resources from AVC and its partner organizations.
“We are thrilled to have Matt with the Lakers. And we are proud to be a part of helping Barnes’ foundation, Athletes Versus Cancer,” said Hollywood Suit Outlet and Giorgio Cosani, Inc. CEO, Hovsep Kouzouyan. “His effort to help those diagnosed with cancer is very inspiring. Matt’s efforts through his foundation are very dear to me as the event’s timing coincided within days of my father being diagnosed with bladder cancer. And my mother is a cancer survivor. Cancer has affected our family in a very personal way. AVC is very meaningful to us.”
Giorgio Cosani supplies over 3,000 stores nationwide and is one of the largest suit manufacturers in the world. Hollywood Suit Outlet continues to be a true factory outlet for Giorgio Cosani and other labels such as Armani, Canali, Hugo Boss, Zegna, Ralph Lauren and many more with the largest selection of men’s suits under one roof anywhere in the country.
