Sun Country to Fly Twin Cities’ Only Direct Service to London’s Gatwick Airport

Summer Service Begins May 27th

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sun Country Airlines announced today a new expanded season of air travel between the Twin Cities and London, England. Beginning Friday, May 27, 2011 and continuing through September 4, 2011, Sun Country will provide twice weekly flights to London’s Gatwick Airport. The new service will provide travelers with the only direct air service between the two cities.

This new service is perfect for travelers who want to explore London and the U.K. or for those who want to travel on to Europe.”

Gadek noted that the Airline has increased the frequency of service with Friday and Saturday departures and expanded the season from Memorial Day to Labor Day in response to customer demand. Flights are available for purchase effective immediately. For a limited time, Sun Country is offering promotional fares beginning at $399* one way (view taxes/fees below).

To celebrate the return of Sun Country’s trans-Atlantic service, the Hometown Airline is offering double Ufly points on the route; travelers will earn 10 Ufly points for coach and 14 points for first class travel. And, for those who travel to London on or before June 16, 2011 the rewards are even better with 12 points awarded for coach-class travel and 16 points for first class travel. Flights are available for award travel as well by with redemption of 400 Ufly points for coach travel and 500 Ufly points for first class travel.

The service will operate each Friday and Saturday between May 27, 2011 and September 4, 2011. Flights in both directions are timed to provide convenient connections at both ends.

Coach travelers can upgrade to first class with affordable, day-of-travel airport upgrade of just $250 each way.
